Varna Archer
She spent years bringing Portuguese wine to Dutch tables and has a plot in the Douro bearing her name. When she says it is right, it is right.
Wine club · A country per drop
Characterful wines from small growers, personally selected by Varna and Nelson Archer.

Two Archers, one mission
Aunt and nephew, both Taurus, both equally stubborn about what makes a good bottle. Varna tastes, Nelson tastes. What survives makes the drop.

Nephew, table companion and second voice. Cooks for the wine rather than the other way around, and keeps the conversation away from leather and summer rain.
The first drop
Portugal this time, always from winemakers with a story. Buy from a single bottle — we keep it safe until you want it delivered.
Varna's house white. Douro, but dry.
A dry white blend of four Douro grapes from the valley of Port. Floral, fresh and remarkably long — Varna's house bottle for birthdays, parties and sushi.

Moscatel that is not sweet. Still makes a statement.
Pure Moscatel Galego grown on granite and slate around Alijó. Grapefruit, lychee and lime; dry and mineral with a silky texture. The bottle for spicy curry or prawns.

The best white grape with seafood. Full stop.
Hand-picked Alvarinho from slate soils. Nine months on the lees and nine in bottle. Jasmine and peach on the nose, velvety and creamy on the palate. Nelson's favourite with fish.

An Alentejo rosé that ignores the Alentejo rulebook.
From an estate once home to a writer and a composer. Pale salmon, cherry and blackberry on the nose; dry and elegant on the palate. For sushi, salads or an evening that could go anywhere.

A Port you can happily serve over ice.
Winemaker Alzira breaks with tradition: stainless steel rather than oak, made to drink young. Strawberry, raspberry and a touch of almond. Not a dessert wine — this opens the evening.
Availability to be confirmed
Soft, rounded and assured. No bombastic tannins.
Three grapes vinified separately, then slowly matured in stainless steel and French oak. Deep red with a violet hue, ripe forest fruit, remarkably soft and round. For grilled meat, game or firm cheese.

Two thousand years of wine country. And a little Varna in it.
From the Eirados Varna vineyard: Varna's first own red label, made by Alzira Castro-de Carvalho. Floral aromas, full ripe fruit and silky tannins. A glass worth lingering over.

Century-old vines. Foot-trodden. Wild yeasts.
From the Valley of a Thousand: ungrafted bush vines at 750–850 metres, organically farmed and foot-trodden in granite lagares. Intense, mineral and complex. Not a lunch wine.

How Bullseye works
Choose by the bottle, from just one. We keep what you buy until you want it delivered.
Every wine comes with a story: who made it, where it came from and why it caught our attention.
Your opinion counts. Every hit and miss makes your matches in the next drop sharper.
The Bullseye Taste Map
Six questions, about a minute. No talk of leather notes — just what you drink, when, and what you serve it with.
You get your own spot on the map, plus the wines in this drop that sit closest to it.

The story behind the bottle
Two thousand years of wine country. And a little Varna in it.
From the Eirados Varna vineyard: Varna's first own red label, made by Alzira Castro-de Carvalho. Floral aromas, full ripe fruit and silky tannins. A glass worth lingering over. Floral aromas and full ripe fruit. Lively, with silky tannins and a long savoury finish.
Varna: “My first own red, from a plot bearing my name. If I may point to one bottle in this drop, it is this one.”
Where it comes from
Steep slate terraces along the river. Famous for Port — but its dry wines are every bit as good.
Warm, wide and sunny. Usually associated with power; we found elegance instead.
Green and fresh in the north. Home of Alvarinho, and of everything that belongs next to fish.
Your own cellar
Try a single bottle. You don't need to buy six of the same wine to find out whether you like it.
What you buy is yours straight away and stays with us free of charge, cool and dark, until you want it delivered.
Delivery costs € 9,50 per shipment, however many bottles are in it. A full case of 6 works out best per bottle — but you never have to wait.
Founding Members
We are starting with a limited group of Founding Members. Varna curates the drops and Nelson tastes alongside her. Founding Members get first access to every drop and hear the story behind each bottle before it opens.
We will publish the terms and membership fee as soon as they are final.
Don't miss the drop
Places for the first drop are limited. We'll let you know as soon as it opens — by email and, if you like, through the private WhatsApp Community.
