Titan of Douro
Makers of wine from century-old, ungrafted vines in the Vale dos Mil, high in the Douro hinterland along the Távora river.
In the Vale dos Mil — the Valley of a Thousand — along the Távora river stand vines more than a hundred years old: ungrafted, bush-trained, at 750 to 850 metres, in granite, quartz and river stones.
The grapes are picked by hand, foot-trodden in granite lagares and fermented with wild native yeasts, as has been done here for a century. The wine then spends sixteen months in French oak. The result is intense and mineral, and fits no category.
